Cold morning warming up to a nice afternoon. Boats returned from fishing with excellent catches of good sized Wahoo, fair Dolphin and some Blackfin Tuna and Amberjack.

 

Godspeed: Glenn Dodenhoff of Buxton, NC caught a 44lb Wahoo. Michael Melillo of Alexandria, VA caught a 59lb Wahoo.

Offshore boats came back with good catches of yellowfin tuna and few dolphin and wahoo. One wahoo weighed 43lbs!

Just one boat offshore todad, they had a real good day. They caught limits of Dolphin, some Wahoo and some Blackfin Tuna.

Just a few boats offshore today, they caught Black and Yellowfin Tuna, some Wahoo and Dolphin and a few King Mackerel.

No weather love in Hatteras today. Cold temps and winds kept the boats in today. We have had weather well into the 80's this year but this morning it was a brisk 46 brrr. Temps are supposed to start going up tomorrow and hopefully the fleet will be out as well.

North wind blowing 25-30kts...all boats stayed at the docks.

Blackfin Tuna: Smallest tuna species. Maximum size, 46lb 39in. Blackfin have oval shaped bodies, black backs with slight yellow on flnlets and yellow on both sides of their bodies. They are only found in western Atlantic from Cape Cod to Brazil. Blackfin feed on shrimp, crabs and small fish. They are a fast growing species that live to about 5 years old, reaching sexual maturity around 2 then spawn in the open sea in the summer. Blackfin tuna are a warm water fish.

Offshore boats had a good day of fishing. They came back with excellent catches of blackfin tuna (citation size) and good catches of dolphin. Wahoo bites were scattered. (1 was 40lbs)

Offshore today early morning weather was nice but turned to thunderstorms in the later afternoon. Anglers were catching good Blackfin Tuna with lots of citation sizes. There was a fair Dolphin bite and a few nice size Wahoo. Inshore a LOT of Red Drum releases 21 on one boat with 3 anglers.
