Temp a little warmer today but the wind still blowing! No boats made it out today.

Today's picture: sometimes when the warm water temperature mixes with the cold air, it creates a steam. The "white line" you see in the Sound is the steam!

Well, just as predicted the wind is really blowing today out of the north west around 30 with higher gusts and COLD! Needless to say there were no boats out, we did see some duck hunters going out, boy are they tuff.  Call us to book your Tuna trip 1-800-676-4939

No fishing today, ol' man winter has arrived! Strong north west winds 20 to 25 with dropping temperatures into the 30s today and colder tonight. Tomorrow more cold weather with north winds 25 to 30 and gust to 40, great for duck hunting but not fishing. We are trying to stay warm here in the store and are starting to order new t-shirts and gifts for this year. Can't wait to see the new designs. We are also booking a few trips for the spring. We would also like to wish Jessie Anderson, Dita Young and Tammi Gray good luck as they head to out to look for some Big Bluefin Tuna and hopefully get some filming for Wicked Tuna. Go Get'em Girls!!!

South West winds blowing 20 to 25 kts this morning and gusting up to 35 kts this afternoon kept all boats at the dock.

We fish all year! Now fishing offshore for Tuna, Wahoo and King Mackerel! Inshore possible catch is Bluefish!

It's a beautiful day on the island - temperature in the low 70's and no wind. Unfortunately, no charter boats were booked today and everyone stayed in. It looks like we'll enjoy this weather for the start of the week before the wind turns northwest and brings with it a cold wind and a chance of snow showers.

Charter boats began the new year with a really good catch of Blackfin Tuna. A lone Wahoo was also reported. Everyone was glad to get back out after the holidays and hopefully the weather will provide us with opportunities to go after the tuna.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Best wishes for a prosperous 2015!

We hope whether you were naughty or nice this year you got what you wanted for Christmas. Here at the marina we always want good fishing and we must have been pretty good this year because the fishing has been great. Blackfin Tuna are coming to the dock on a regular basis. We will continue being closed until Jan 2. Tight Lines and Calm seas in 2015!

Sunday, December 21, 2014

NE wind blowing 10-15kts, seas 2-4ft every 4 seconds. Today's offshore charter returned to the dock with a good catch of Blackfin Tuna! No boats fished inshore.

Blackfin Tuna: Only found in the western Atlantic from Cape Cod to Brazil. Smallest of the tunas, growing to 39in and weighing 46lbs. They have oval shaped bodies with black backs with a slight yellow on the finlets and yellow on their sides. Blackfins are a short-lived, fast growing fish is considered old at 5 years old. A warm water fish, they prefer temperatures over 68(F). What they lack in size, they make up for in numbers and willingness to bite!

No inshore boats were chartered today.

One offshore trip braved the cold and what a great catch they had, excellent Blackfin Tuna!

Few commercial boats went out. They did well with the King Mackerel.

Inshore boats reported excellent Red Drum fishing in the Pamlico Sound.

One boat had an offshore charter today and returned with a good catch of Blackfin Tuna. The commercial fleet had a good day bringing in King Mackerel.
